So I was flipping through the voluminous metro-area Sunday newspaper and decided to have a peek at the personals. It had been only a few months since my fiance and I broke up, but I figured just looking was safe enough. As my eyes danced across the page, they happened upon something I'd never noticed before millionaire classifieds! Who are these millionaires and what are they doing having a separate section of the personals page? Surely a wealthy man can attract almost any woman he wants! As I read on, I was intrigued by the seemingly large number of attractive, wealthy men looking to spoil a beautiful young recent college graduate like me!  A few of these sounded like they were describing me, as I eagerly read what each man was seeking.

While my enthusiasm was cautiously replaced by practical hesitancy, I picked up a pen and started jotting down which millionaire classifieds I'd respond to and how I would present myself; an odd twist on the feeling one gets before approaching someone new at a bar or gathering. As I was jotting down some key phrases and attributes that I saw repeated in various ads, the phone rang. It was my best friend, Lacey. As I anxiously filled her in on what I was doing, she responded just as I'd already predicted, Are you crazy? She said, Those are probably filled with men just looking to hook up with someone, and can't be for real! I had to admit, I was extremely curious to see if this was all for real, or just a bunch of phonies, but I knew I was taking the chance that not everyone would reply, nor would every man necessarily be interested in me. I've gambled a few times in my life, and something about this was just so intriguing; the possibility of finding an older, affluent man who has had life experiences he can share! The millionaire classifieds may be just the place for me after a string of dates with men my own age that were still trying to figure out what they're going to do with the rest of their lives.

As Lacey and I wrapped up our phone call, I patiently listened to her point of view, as well as her concerns. She then mentioned she saw something on TV once, and thinks that what I'm considering doing is called Sugardaddy dating. I told her that while I wasn't familiar with that term, there’s one thing I do know i'll be enjoying a fine dining experience with an older, successful man as her 20-something date pulls her around the drive-thru asking if she wants fries with that.
